Executive summary
Overview

The Q3 2026 Retina Report by BuyandBill.com offers an analysis of drug pricing and pipeline developments for office-administered ophthalmology treatments. The report places emphasis on therapies for wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD), geographic atrophy (GA), intraocular steroids, and a range of miscellaneous ophthalmic agents. It details current HCPCS codes, ASP (Average Sales Price), WAC (Wholesale Acquisition Cost), and ASP-to-WAC ratios, which help stakeholders assess discounting and reimbursement dynamics. The Retina Report also highlights the importance of tracking quarterly ASP fluctuations, given their direct impact on Medicare and commercial payer reimbursement.

This quarter’s ASP update is dominated by sharp divergence within the ranibizumab class: Byooviz spiked more than 250% off its Q2 low as lagged sales data reset and now trades above its list price, while Lucentis PFS fell nearly 25% to a new low, extending its multi-year erosion. Movement across the rest of the wet AMD class was modest, with small gains for Eylea and Beovu and mild declines for Pavblu, Vabysmo, and Eylea HD. The aflibercept category continues to expand — six Eylea biosimilars now hold FDA approval, with Eydenzelt assigned an HCPCS code effective July 2026 — though Pavblu remains the only biosimilar with published pricing. Nufymco, a newly coded ranibizumab biosimilar, also enters the report this quarter with a published WAC but no ASP yet. Geographic atrophy treatments (Syfovre, Izervay) continue to show minimal discounting and stable pricing, and intraocular steroid pricing remains broadly flat.

The Retina Report outlines the current ophthalmology drug pipeline, focusing on products from Phase 1 through the BLA/ANDA filing stages. This includes a growing number of aflibercept and ranibizumab biosimilars, as well as novel candidates — including intravitreal gene therapies — for wet AMD, DME, diabetic retinopathy, uveitis, and GA.
